This is a small sampling of surface pattern designs I have created over my career, showing a wide range of styles I am capable of designing within. I love to experiment with different mediums, color palettes and moods in my designs. I am highly skilled in both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as in developing repeats.
Potential licensees: Please contact me if you would like to view my larger portfolio. I can prepare a private gallery of designs for you to review. This service is only available to potential licensing partners, so we will qualify all requests before preparing a gallery and providing a password. Thank you!
I would love to hear about your project! I am a passionate and experienced creative director, designer, and product development manager who thrives on taking products to the next level by incorporating exciting surface design.

Within the Home Décor category, Kim Sabel innovated a line of dimensional placemats called LacematsTM, named for their intricate cut-work designs.
Materials used included foam, acrylic, faux leather, polypropylene, felt and wood veneer.
The all-custom product line was created for clients Crate & Barrel and Bed Bath & Beyond, and was awarded everyday and seasonal placement. Kim worked directly and cooperatively with the store buyers to provide custom designs to suit their preferences.
Kim developed and designed the logo, brand identity and all packaging associated with the product. She oversaw the product quality direct from the factories in China, communicating all adjustments needed.
All creative direction, art direction, and design was executed by Kim Sabel.
Designed for KI Memories/Hampton Art.

The Love, Elsie® brand was created by Elsie Larson (known now for her popular lifestyle blog, A Beautiful Mess), together with Kim Sabel, for KI Memories. The brand debuted at the Craft & Hobby Association tradeshow in Anaheim, CA. in January of 2007.
In keeping with the Love, Elsie brand, Kim designed the booth in the style of a small home, complete with a kitchen. Using a limited budget we created a fresh and friendly space that was inviting for guests, communicated the personality of the Love, Elsie brand, and showed off the product in creative ways.
Kim used FLOR carpet tiles in a checkerboard pattern for retro appeal on the floor and to add softness under visitors' tired feet.
Other details included: 3-D laser cut logo signs, an actual cut-out window in the "kitchen" with flower box on the outside of the booth, a sink, craft sample hanging rod display, and custom vinyl graphics illustrated by Elsie and Kim.
Designed by Kim Sabel for KI Memories.
This custom-fabricated tradeshow booth was designed to convey the company's tagline, "Celebrate Life", with a clean, light and modern feel.
Each outer side of the booth included a "shadowbox" display area similar to a store window. Shadowbox displays changed with each show, per the season & timing of the show, and/or overall theme of the product Collection being shown. Sample craft projects made with KI Memories products were also hung here using clear wire and floating plexiglass boards to create a floating gallery.
Materials included matte silver aluminum, frosted and clear plexiglass, silver truss borders and framing for support, plush gray carpeting, standoffs and elements hung from clear wires for a floating, dimensional effect.
Other details: frosted plexiglass columns with logo flower graphics and spinning light boxes on top. Duratrans light boxes on sides of booth with logos, custom desk designed by Kim to display albums on corners and allow for customers to sit and create something with our products while in the booth.
Photos span 2003-2012, and several tradeshows including CHA (Craft & Hobby Association), MemoryTrends, National Stationery Show.
